How we got here

Sam Owens founded Sherman Oaks Appliance Repair in 2012 after ten years running service calls for a luxury-appliance dealer on Ventura Boulevard. That decade taught him two things: first, that most appliance repair shops don’t take the time to diagnose carefully — they swap parts until something works. Second, that the manufacturers of premium appliances (Sub-Zero, Wolf, Miele, Thermador) build machines that deserve better than that kind of service.

So we built the shop around a simple idea: charge a flat $49 diagnostic, do the diagnosis with actual tools before naming a repair, and quote firmly before touching anything. The customer gets to decide what to do with good information, not a sales pitch.

The shop today

The workshop is at 5142 Van Nuys Blvd, north of Ventura and south of Burbank Blvd — easy to find, easy to park, and geographically centered on the neighborhoods we serve most. We run two techs on the road plus Sam who handles diagnostics and specialty jobs. Our van carries ~60 of the most common failure parts for the top 10 appliance brands in Sherman Oaks, which is why about 70% of our jobs finish in one visit.

We’re licensed, bonded, and insured. We’re EPA 608 certified for sealed-system refrigeration work (most local shops aren’t). And we carry manufacturer-authorized training credentials for Sub-Zero, Wolf, Miele, and Thermador.

What we believe

Honest diagnostics. If a repair doesn’t make economic sense, we say so out loud. We’d rather you call us back in three years when you buy the new fridge than try to squeeze another year out of one that’s done.

Real OEM parts. Never aftermarket, never “equivalent.” The parts we install come from Sub-Zero, Wolf, Miele, and Thermador’s authorized distributors — with the same warranty as if you’d had a factory tech out.

Flat pricing. A $49 diagnostic is a $49 diagnostic. A quoted repair is a quoted repair. No surprise line items after the fact.

One-visit commitment. We stock the parts you’re most likely to need so you don’t spend three weeks eating out of a cooler while we wait for a shipment. When we do have to order, we tell you the real lead time, not a hopeful one.

Coverage

We work across Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Encino, Tarzana, Valley Village, Van Nuys, Toluca Lake, North Hollywood, and Beverly Glen. Adjacent neighborhoods (Woodland Hills, Burbank, Bel Air, parts of Westwood) get service as scheduling allows — usually same-week.
